Jeremiah "Hatch" Murray was born April 2, 1878 and was elected Sheriff in Nov. 1914. He served one two-year term and then Richard Pope became sheriff. However, Sheriff Pope died in office and Sheriff Murray finished the last six months of Pope's second term. He died in February of 1958
